LLOYD CLINTON McBRIDE It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband and father Lloyd McBride. Lloyd was born November 13, 1916 in Gladstone, MB. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Edna (Rogers) and his son Roger as well as sister-in-law Agnes of Gladstone and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dad grew up on his fathers farm near Gladstone and received his early formal education at Gladstone Collegiate. It was during this time that he met his future wife Edna and they were married in 1940. He was a strong, athletic man and was a baseball player of some note in his younger days. His winter pastime was curling with his friends. He loved to drive on the open road and the family took many enjoyable summer vacations. Dad was a handsome, kind and humble man and devoted himself to his wife and son. He was a dedicated and determined worker and always supported his family in their endeavours. He began work with United Grain Growers (U.G.G.) in 1942 and continued with the company for 40 years. He worked his way up from an elevator job in Brunkild, MB, to management positions in the Farm Supplies Division in Saskatoon and Winnipeg. In the early 1960s he was an alderman in St. Vital where he enjoyed serving the community. He was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge and in 1983 he became a Shriner. He participated with the Shrine Marching Patrol and attended many Shrine events with his wife Edna. Dad enjoyed being a contributor to the many good deeds of the Shriners. Dad was a fine man and he will always be in our hearts. With respect to his wishes, cremation has taken place. An announcement about service to follow. "I expect to pass through life but once. If, therefore, there be any kindness I can show or any good I can do for any fellow being, let me do it now, and not deter or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again."
