HELEN LINDA PALEN (nee DOLLIS) Peacefully, on Sunday, February 29, 2004, at the Concordia Hospital, Helen Linda Palen went to her rest at the age of 62 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother Ella Mantie; five children, Arlene and Paul Boivin, Betty and Warren Fisher, Don Palen, Karen Palen, Penny Palen and Bruce Laird; grandchildren, Amanda and Adam Boivin, and sweet baby James Laird; brother Dave and Margaret Dollis; sister Delores and Ed Podjan; sister-in-law Elma and Willie Mantie-Schade; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her father Herman Dollis; stepfather Ed Mantie; husband James (Wes) Palen; daughter Diane Palen; brother Donald Mantie and brother-in-law Harold Krentz. Mom was born in Tenby, Manitoba on April 27, 1941 to Ella (nee Miller) and Herman Dollis. She married James Palen in 1960 and set about raising six children. Our mother will be remembered as a loving mother and a unique human being. Mom loved local sports, The Weather Channel and CFRY. She went through life with a cheerful disposition and always had a kind word for all she met. Mom was particularly thankful to have met her newest grandson, James and to have had so many kind and thoughtful visitors during her brief stay in the hospital. A celebration of Lindas life will be held on Tuesday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, 211 Kimberly Avenue with Pastor Bruce Gelhorn officiating. Our family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at the Concordia Hospital for the kind and compassionate care that our mother received and to all who took the time to call and visit our mother during this time.
