ROBERT "BOB" WRIGHT Robert Bob Wright age 80 years, a resident of Atikokan, died in Atikokan General Hospital, on Thursday, March 4, 2004. Born in Fort William, Bob was raised here until he joined the Navy at the age of 17 and served overseas for his country. After returning home from the war Bob went to Toronto where he attended the Canadian School of Embalming at the Banting Institute at the University of Toronto. Bob apprenticed at the Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel, Thunder Bay and in 1951 moved to Atikokan where he owned and operated the Wright Funeral Home until he retired. Over the years Bob was very active in the community of Atikokan. He was a member of the Atikokan Legion, worked at the mine, with the Police and for many years, was a Justice of the Peace. Bob was married to Linky (Mildred) Lindquist on September 10, 1950. She predeceased him in 1994. Bob is survived by his daughter Shirley Marusyk and Dave Lang, daughter-in-law Nola Wright, grandchildren Jeff, Melanie, Rob, Cindy and Stephanie, sister Mary (Gord), Wiltshire, Bellingham, Washington and sisters-in-law Carol and Ruth. Besides his wife Bob was predeceased by his parents, son Dan, brothers, Frank, Alex and Fuzz and sister Gladys Chersky. At Bobs request, funeral services will be held in the Blake Funeral Chapel,Thunder Bay on Monday, March 8 at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Gordon Waldie officiating. Bob will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Linky in Riverside Cemetery. A Veterans Service of Honour will be held prior to the funeral. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel. If friends desire, memorials to the Atikokan General Hospital or Thunder Bay Naval Heritage Fund would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Robert Wright in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual Dedication service Sunday, June 26, 2005. BLAKE Funeral Chapel Ltd.
