STANLEY GEORGE DISBROWE Peacefully on March 7, 2004 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Stanley Disbrowe, aged 92 years, late of Selkirk and formerly of Berens River, MB. He was predeceased by his parents, seven brothers and six sisters. He is survived by son George (Freda) Disbrowe of Selkirk; daughter Rosa (Bill) Bowers of Calgary, AB; six grandchildren, Pam (Jerry) Baerr, George, Cheryl, Chuck (Maizelle), Ryan, Keith Bowers of Calgary; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Isabel Disbrowe and Romeo Bowers; sisters, Lena Settee of Winnipeg and Elsie Monkman of Selkirk; numerous nieces and nephews. Stanley was born August 22, 1911 at Berens River, MB. He made his living as a commercial fisherman on lake Winnipeg and doing carpentry in the winters. He enjoyed playing the violin and played for many dances. He attended church every Sunday and would tape record the hymns to listen to later. In his spare time he enjoyed making lamps out of driftwood. In April 2001 Stanley left Berens River to move to Tudor House in Selkirk, where he resided until his passing. Honorary Pallbearers are George, Chuck, Ryan Disbrowe, Keith Bowers, Gerry and Willie Monkman. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of unit 6 Seven Oaks Hospital and the staff of Tudor House in Selkirk. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. in Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Pastor Ray Settee officiating. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 10 in Berens River. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
