Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRAHAM MAXWELL RUSSELL (POPPY) October 25, 1915 - March 7, 2004 Our family is saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. He is survived by his wife Loretta (Rita) children, Albert (Sudi), George (Rolande), Jim (Jackie), Lewis, Cliff (Connie), Donnie, Candy (Larry) and Nancy (Don) his sister Ruby; and brothers-in-law, Albert Fequet and Henry Fequet; and numerous nieces, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Poppy was predeceased by his parents, Reuben and Mary Jane; brothers and sisters, Art, Malcolm, Lewis, Annie and Hilda; and his special grandson Steven Russell. Poppy was born in Bay Roberts, NF on October 25, 1916. He worked for The Hudsons Bay Company in Blance Sablon, QC for 35 years and then managed the Caisse Populaire and the Lourdes du Blance Sablon. He resided in Carbonear, NF, Blanc Sablon, QC, New Carlisle, QC, Pasadena, NF, Halifax, NS and in 1992 moved to Selkirk where he lived with his son Cliff and Connie. His greatest loves in life included fly fishing, camping, hockey, travel and doing paint by numbers and will always be remembered for his great sense of humour. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 11 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, with The Ven. Godfrey Mawejje officiating. Interment of ashes to take place at a later date in Old Fort Bay, QC. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Betel Home in Selkirk for the loving care they provided dad. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Staff Fund at the Betel Home, 212 Manchester Ave., Selkirk, MB R1A 0B6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
