IRENE LILLIAN THURSTON WEBER (SCOLLAN) Irene Lillian Thurston Weber (Scollan) passed away peacefully at home with family at her side on Saturday, March 6, 2004. The name Thurston means Thors Jewel, and Irene Lillian Thurston Weber was definitely a precious jewel to those who knew and loved her. Irene is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Ralph Weber; her sons, James Scollan (Caroline) of Winnipeg and John Scollan (Vea) of Lawrenceville, GA; her three daughters, Bonita McMurren of Stony Mountain, MB, Mary Jane Kellington (Neil) of Central Saanich, BC and Lorraine Scollan of Sidney, BC; her stepdaughters, Bonnie Jones (Gordon) of Brentwood Bay, BC, Elizabeth Zilkie (Barry) of Victoria, BC. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, James and David Scollan, Tyson, Chad and Carrie McMurren, Lindsay Kellington, Ryley, Myles and Brighton Leckie, Heather and Shannon Jones, Lori Hoskins (Tom) and Kerri Andrews; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Tyler and Brandon Hoskins. Irene was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Alice Thurston and her nine brothers and sisters. Irene was born on November 16, 1917 in Ste. Anne, MB, second youngest of 10 children. She lived for many years in Winnipeg and for the last 17 years in Victoria, BC. Her faith was very important to her, and Irene was actively involved in the CWL of St. Alphonsus Church in Winnipeg and of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Victoria. Irene and her husband were the founding members of the 50 Plus Club at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Prayers will be offered at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 851 Old Esquimalt Rd., on Tuesday, March 9 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church on Wednesday, March 10 at 12:10 p.m. Fr. B. Hanley celebrant. Interment will follow at Ross Bay Cemetery. A special thanks to The Juan de Fuca Home Support, the Victoria Hospice Society, Dr. Derek Carroll, and for spiritual support, Fr. Bernard Hanley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.
