MARGARET F. BARRIE 1902 - 2004 Peacefully on March 9, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre. Family would like to thank the staff on D5 for their excellent care and compassion in her last few weeks. Aunt Margaret was predeceased by her husband David (1976) and her son Claude (1998). She leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Linda Rogers and Gordon Barrie in Toronto; her nieces, Dianne Maharaj (David), Edith Stenhouse (Bob) and nephews, Bob Stewart (Carol), Jim Barrie (Eileen) and their families in Winnipeg. She also had many family and friends in Scotland and the United States. Aunt Margaret was born on October 30, 1902 in Dundee, Scotland and moved with her family to Winnipeg in 1914. She attended Victoria and Albert Schools and later worked for Vitagraph Films. In 1922 she was crowned Winnipeg Scottish Carnival Queen - a very special moment in her life. In 1925 she married David Barrie and they shared 51 wonderful years together both here and in Toronto. Aunt Margaret loved people and music and even to her last days could be counted on for a story, a poem, a song, or a dance. Her second passion was curling and she won many awards and accolades in the sport here and in Toronto. She spent many happy summers at their cottage in Malachi and later at their cottage in Peterboro. In 1990 she moved back to Winnipeg living first in an apartment, then Quest Inn Life Care Centre, and at the time of her death she resided at Arlington Haus Seniors Centre. The family would especially like to thank the homecare workers and the regular staff for their affection. We will all miss her in our own way. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday March 13 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, ON. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1858 Portage Avenue - 949-4872
