JOE MAKSYMYK Surrounded by his family Joe passed away peacefully March 10, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 77. He leaves to mourn his loving companion Dorothy Spakowski; his daughters, Carole Dimatteo (Joe), Patty McGimpsey (Gord), Penny Hoplock (Randy) his grandchildren, Jordyn, Shannon, Jessica, Shawna, Sharie, Julien; and special friends, Joyce, Gary, Ron, Vicky, Amanda and Michael; his surviving brothers, Steve and Paul (Doreen) and sisters, Lee, Ollie and Nellie (Bill). He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Elizabeth; parents, Mary and Dmytro; siblings, Mike, Mary (early childhood), Ann Urcheson and Rose Maksymyk. Joe was born in Malonton, November 9, 1926. Joe spent most of his working years working up in Northern Manitoba as an electrician for the Indian Affairs as well as in his community. He enjoyed spending time outdoors grooming his yard to perfection as well as perfecting the art of making smoked goldeye in his backyard. The family would like to express their appreciation to Gwen Kostiuk as well as the staff of the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care. Prayers will be said on Thursday, March 11 at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Komarno. Interment will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery, Pleasant Home. Honorary pallbearers will be all the friends in attendance. Active pallbearers will be Alex Wozlowski, Ron Spakowski, Randy Hoplock, Gord McGimpsey, Joe Dimatteo, Chris Kostiuk. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital, or to a charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
