JACK FRIESEN Passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at the Neepawa Hospital, Jack Friesen, age 76 years, of Plumas, MB, beloved husband of Anne Friesen. Jack was born in a farm home at St. Elizabeth, MB on October 9, 1927. He received his education at St. Elizabeth School while helping his Dad on the farm. After receiving his education he worked for a time at a bush camp at Sioux Lookout, ON, as well as at Leech Gold Mines at Beardmore, ON. He also worked at the construction of the power house at Kemano, BC for Kitimat Aluminum Smelter. In 1950, Jack and his brother George bought three quarters of a section of land west of Plumas. In 1955 he married Anne Derksen. He worked for Tonn Bros. from 1974 to 1988. Jack coached and managed minor hockey in Plumas, and was the timekeeper and announcer for all minor and old timers hockey games. He was a member of the Plumas Skating Rink Committee and President for four terms. He was a member of the Plumas Recreation Committee, the Central Plains Recreation Committee, Central Region Sports Council representing the North District, the Inter-Ridge Recreation District representing the R.M. of Westbourne. Jack helped organize the Plumas Centennial Celebrations in 1976, and was a member of the Plumas Lions Club for 14 years. After retirement, he did the cooking and, together with Anne, looked after the yard in town. Most of all, Jack cared very deeply for his children and grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Isaac and Maria (Mirau) Friesen and one sister Agatha Rempel, Jack leaves to mourn his passing his wife Anne; son Eric and his wife Saskia, grandchildren, Katherine and Madeleine; daughter Marina and her husband Robert McLean and grandchildren, Don and Lisa; sister Mary (Corny) Esau; brothers, Peter (Tina) Friesen, John (Betty) Friesen, George (Helen) Friesen and brother-in-law Helmut Rempel. Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Plumas United Church, Plumas, MB. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
