ADELINE "ADELE" BIGOURDAN (nee MICHALSKI) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Adele Bigourdan on March 11, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Adele will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 55 years, John; her children, Janice (Larry) and Brian (Angie) her grandchildren, Brooklyn and Sarah, (Disa and Mike) her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Marge Michalski and her sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Moe Verrier as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Adele was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mary Michalski. Adele was born March 4, 1926 in Winnipegs North End and moved at an early age to what was then South St. Vital. She married the "boy next door" and created her own family and home in St. Vital. Fiercely independent, Adele established herself as an accountant, working for Boyd Auto Body, Cracklin Carpets, Reiss Furs and Corne and Corne Law Offices. This allowed her and John to pursue their passions for the "lake", travel and to indulge their family. The "lake" was definitely Adeles passion. Hours were spent scouting locations, buildings, decorating and then enjoying their piece of heaven. Family is synonymous for Adele. She was "just always there", to listen, provide support and hugs, scratch backs and to organize the special events. Her generosity extended outside to her friends and the friends of her children. They were all family to her. Adele loved a good party and her and Johns home was always open. It was not uncommon for 50 or so relatives and friends to be there to share in the excitement of Christmas, Easter, a birthday, anniversary or any other event. Living is not always easy and Adele had more than her share of health issues. Through all of her illnesses, she was determined and courageous. Bouncing back after each illness. Adele lived life to the fullest, always looking for and seeing that ray of sunshine. She extended a "your welcome" to the dozens of health professionals that, as Adele said "she helped train and educate during her many hospital stays. The family would like to thank the Emergency Staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the Ambulance and Paramedic teams for their compassionate care. Also, we thank Dr. Tanner and the staff on 4A at the St. Boniface Hospital for their most recent care of Adele. To those staff at the St. Vital Mall who befriended Adele and encouraged her independence these last couple of years - thank you. Prayers will be said on Monday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so one half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, Cancer or Heart Research, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550
