DORIS NILSON (nee WILHELM) Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Doris passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 13, 2004. She faced a long battle with cancer, always maintaining her strength of character and sense of humour. She is predeceased by her loving husband Larry; her parents; her sister Marj and her brother Bob. She will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by Pat, Frank, Jimmy, Sandy, Donna, Jim, Russ, Jeanette, Lane, David, John, Lenore and her grandchildren, Alison, Melanie and Andy as well as numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends. Doris lived a long and happy life surrounded by family and friends. She was born in QuAppelle, SK to parents, Ted and Nita and grew up in Kennedy where her parents owned the general store. Doris married Larry in 1949 and they moved to Winnipeg in 1951. Doris and Larry raised their three children in Windsor Park in a home that was filled with warmth, love and laughter. Doris was a senior interviewer at Statistics Canada and retired in 1986. In her retirement she enjoyed travelling and spent many winters in Texas with Russ and their close friends. The family wishes to thank all of the wonderful caregivers involved in Moms care. If desired, donations may be made in Moms memory to a charity of ones choice. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. A private family interment will take place at a later date in the St. Vital Cemetery.
