Date of Passing: Feb 10, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGABRIEL MARCUS MARTIN (GABE) Born October 6, 1920, in Winnipeg, Dad passed away suddenly on February 10, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sarah; daughters, Debbie Martin, Marilyn Silver, and Judy Doctoroff; and seven grandchildren. Raised in Winnipeg, Dad joined the Canadian Army in 1939 and served as a member of the Signal Corps. Dad and Mom were married in Edmonton, and he began a life-long career in the home renovation business. Dad was best known as a founder of Northland Building Products. When health issues caused him to retire, he turned his full attention to his family, who will forever cherish the memory of his devotion. He loved us all unconditionally, and chose to support us no matter what path we chose. Whatever the details of a life as long in years and rich in experience as Dads, what is ultimately important is the legacy of the memories held by others. In this, Dads family is well blessed, as are the others who were touched in ways both great and small by the actions and words, wit and humour, and facility of thought that were demonstrated in his life. If I am not for myself, who shall be for me? If I am for myself alone, who am I? If not now, when?
