Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES HENRI MARTEL 1936 - 2004 Peacefully, on Friday, March 12, 2004, at the Repos Jolys in St. Pierre, Charles (Charlie) passed away at the age of 67. Charles leaves in loving memory his wife of 47 years, Elva (Legault) six children, Ronald (Claire), Diane (Gaby), Roger (Jeannine), Daniel (Jeanne), Alain (Sharon), Brian (Michele) 17 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Charles was predeceased by his parents Henri and Laura (Dube) his brother Maurice; and brother-in-law Sylvio Wilcott. He is remembered with love by his brothers, Ned (Phyllis) and Richard (Alice) sisters, Rolande, Gabrielle (Gerard), Marie (Norbert), Georgette (Paul) as well as sister-in-law Patsy. Charles touched the lives of many. He taught us values of hard work and honesty, always having a smile and enjoying the simple things in life. Visits from family and friends were highly appreciated. Charles and Elva were married on January 11, 1957. Having lived in St. Boniface, St. Pierre and St. Malo, they raised in love six children. Charles followed his fathers footsteps by working long days at Martel Machine Shop. He is fondly remembered by many area farmers for his hard work and dedication. Fishing was his favourite pastime. It was an opportunity for his family and friends to enjoy his company. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at the DeSalaberry Medical Centre (Repos Jolys and Hospital). The care and compassion by the staff members were greatly appreciated. "Charlies angels" have touched the hearts of us all. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m. in St. Pierre-Jolys at the Roman Catholic Church. Prayers will be said at 2:00 p.m., preceding the service. Interment and reception to follow. Father Benjamin Shabani Kazadi will preside Charles celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Repos Jolys DeSalaberry District Health Centre (Personal Care Home), P.O. Box 320, St. Pierre, MB R0A 1V0. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
