Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHORACE G. CHASTELLAINE May 3, 1930 - March 4, 2004 Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer. Horace was called home to be with his Master on March 4, 2004 at 4:48 a.m. with his family by his bed. His last days were spend with his family and his bible. His trust in the Lord helped us ease our pain and sorrow. Horace was a loving, kind, caring man. He married Verna, whom he loved very much on January 2, 1952. All together they raised a total of 11 kids. His words were filled with kindness and praise for everybody he met. After working for the Cross Lake Education Authority for 35 years on numerous positions he retired on 1998. His retirement days were spent fixing dryers and washers for the people of the community. Horace leaves to mourn children, Smithy (Delores) Chastellaine, Matilda (Eric) Blacksmith, Albert (Valerie) McLeod, Curtis (Charlene) Ross and Leon Ross; special niece Florence (Dolphus) Blacksmith; brother Leonard Chastellaine; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Halcrow, Dorothy (Mathew) Ross; in-law Annie Ross; numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Horace was predeceased by his loving wife Verna Chastellaine; parents, Christina and Nichol Chastellaine; brothers, Marcus, David and Nichol; sisters, Verna Ross, Lillian Chastellaine; sisters-in-law, Florence, Mary Ann, Illa, Adelaide, Drusilla and Frances; brothers-in-law, Robert, Tommy, Peter, Oliver and Happy Jack. Every evening, when the sun would go down on the horizon, he would stay outside until dark. We will always miss watching his silhouette moving by the river. Special thanks to Dr. Rich and Dr. Dougall and nurses at the Thompson General Hospital, Dr. Oeweny and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, Dr. Chakowsky and staff at the Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Muiller and Dr. Fisher at the Cross Lake Nursing Station. Special mention for Brenda Frieling and Yvette Carriere for their patience and kindness towards his palliative care. Also thank you to Cross Lake First Nation, Cross Lake Fire and Rescue Team, Muchipaniwin Group and numerous others too many to mention.
