IRIS ELEANOR HAMILTON (nee CRAWFORD) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Iris, on Sunday, March 14, 2004, at the St. Boniface General Hospital, at the age of 87 years. Remaining to cherish her memory are her son Jamie; daughter Nancy; nieces, Sally and Rae; sister-in-law Elsie Crawford; adopted daughter Meeghan; and her dogs, Ceilidh and Chablis. Iris was predeceased by her husband Geordie; parents, Anne and Robert Crawford; stepfather Jim Mackie; brothers, George and Jack; and her niece Anne. She was born in Winnipeg on June 18, 1916 to Anne and Robert Crawford. Iris grew up in River Heights with her family and stepfather Jim Mackie, after her father was killed in the First World War. In 1937, she joined the O.E.S. and was a charter member of the Jobs Daughters. Iris married Geordie in 1953 and moved to Charleswood. She dedicated her life to her children and started the baton twirling program at V.V.C.C. and worked at it for fifteen years. Iris touched so many lives, always helping friends and family. After losing her husband five years ago, she struggled terribly, but never complained. In keeping with Iris wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Please join our family in a celebration of Iris life on Saturday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Manitoba Eastern Star Chalet, 525 Cathcart St., with a performance from the Heather Belle Pipe Band.
