IN LOVING MEMORY HARRY WATSON GOUNDRY November 26, 1911- March 13, 2004 Harry Goundry was born in Melrose, MN and came to Canada as an infant. He was predeceased by Roberta (nee Johnson) of Kamsack, SK, his wife of 53 years. Predeceased by his brothers, Russ, Lloyd and Howard. He is survived by his sister Inez Luchuk of Rivers, MB. Harry is survived by his children, Lyle and Linda Goundry, Dianne and George Guenther, and Owen Goundry and Karen OByrne all of Calgary; grandchildren, Lisa Guenther and Rohan Quinby of Auckland, NZ, Julie Guenther of Whitehorse, Joel Goundry of Calgary, Paige Goundry and Brendan Leonard of Calgary, Dale Goundry of Devon, England; and great-granddaughter Morgan Jacobson of Brooks. A gifted musician and composer, Harry played piano, banjo and slide trombone. He met Roberta when he was a member of the Melville Rhythm Kings Orchestra in the 1930s and they married in 1941. In the Second World War, Harry served with the 3rd Battalion, Regina Rifle Regiment on the railroad in Europe from 1943 to 1945. Proud to be the Secretary and Treasurer of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen in Melville, he retired after 50 years of service with CN Rail. A member of Windsor Park United Church in Winnipeg, he was generous in his support of many charities. Harry moved to Trinity Lodge in Calgary in 1996 to be near his family. Harry passed away peacefully in his sleep at Chinook Care Centre after a brief illness. The family appreciates the compassionate care that Harry received at both Trinity Lodge and Chinook Care Centre. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lodge, 1111 Glenmore Trail SW at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 19. Reception to follow.
