Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMABEL BEATRICE HUDSON (ARCHER) With a great sense of loss Sidne, Christopher, Laura and Drew Maddison announce the death of a loved mother and grandmother, Sunday, March 14, 2004 at the Paris Willet Hospital. Beloved wife of the late George Hudson (1967) dear mother of Sidne Maddison; devoted "Nanny" to Christopher (Brantford), Laura (Geneva, Switzerland), Drew (Hamilton). Predeceased by her dear sisters, Miss Winnifred Archer (1995) and Mrs. Kathleen Harrison (2001). Mabel was born in London, England in 1910, moving to Winnipeg in 1920 with her mother and sisters. Later in the 20s, she and her mother moved to New Zealand. On her return to Winnipeg two years later, Mabel worked as a secretary to the mayors office, a position she held through the terms of six mayors until her marriage in 1940. Mabel was a lifelong sports enthusiast, and an especially keen curler and bridge player. In Winnipeg she was a longtime member of St. Aidens Anglican Church and Alter Guild, serving as president for a number of years. A member of the Winnipeg Winter Club, The Womens Canadian Club, a life member of the Shriners Ladies Auxiliary, and a volunteer with many community services including Meals on Wheels. She joined her family in Brantford in 1981. She was a member of St. Andrews United Church. The family will receive friends at McCleister Funeral Home, North Chapel, 495 Park Rd. N., Brantford, Friday, March 19 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A memorial service will follow in the chapel. A graveside service will be held in Winnipeg at a later date where her remains will be placed beside her dear husband George.
