AMELDA "MILLIE" CECHVALA Peacefully with her family by her side at Concordia Hospital on Tuesday, March 16, 2004. Millie, aged 87, was born on April 13, 1916 in St. Ambroise, MB and had four sisters and two brothers. As a child, she played and loved the game of baseball. She was fond of swing dancing in her early years. Millie will always be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humour. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother - her family was everything to her. Millie was well known for her feisty, mischievous nature. Her strength as a woman was ever-present. She was a strong, independent and intelligent woman, whose generosity to her children and grandchildren affected their lives immeasurably. Millie was predeceased by her father Gaspard Ducharme; her mother Beatrice Chartrand; son Irven McLeod; sisters, Albertine Lambert, Lucille Livingstone and Loudovine Klyne; and her brother Arthur Lavallee. She leaves to mourn, her husband of 56 years Cyril "Johnny"; her daughter Doreen (Victor) granddaughters, Noreen, Debra (Terry) grandsons, Larry (Connie), Randy, Trevor (Kim) great-grandchildren, Norman, Ryan, Stephen, Jenna and Taylor; her brother Steve; sister Theresa; and many family and friends. Memorial service for Millie will be held on Friday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road. Interment and reception to follow at Chapel Lawn Reception Centre, 4000 Portage Ave. A very special thank you to the 2nd Floor staff at Park Manor Personal Care Home, 3W and Emergency staff at Concordia Hospital for their kindness and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Park Manor Personal Care Home, 301 Redonda St., Winnipeg, MB R2C 1L7. In tears we saw you sinking, And watched you pass away. Our hearts were almost broken, We wanted you to stay. But when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful, free from pain, How could we wish you back with us, To suffer that again. It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God took you home. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
