GUDNY KRISTIN PETURSON (nee MARKUSSON) On March 16, 2004 at the Betel Home in Gimli, Gudny Kristin Peturson, aged 105 years, passed away. Gudny was born in Arnes, MB on February 19, 1899, daughter of the late Gudmundur Markusson Jonson and Ingibjorg Sigridur Finnsdottir. Gudney worked at Eatons in Winnipeg prior to marrying Dr. Bjorn (Barney) Peturson. Gudny and Barney resided in Fort Garry and Winnipeg throughout their married life, before moving to Gimli in 1980. Gudny enjoyed her flower garden, especially gladiolas, doing oil paintings and other arts and crafts. She was a kind and loving wife, sister and aunt who was very devoted to her family. She was a wonderful homemaker and always welcomed everyone into her home. Gudny was predeceased by her husband Barney; her parents; and brothers, Olafur, Finnur, Sveinbjorn; and two infant sisters. She is survived by her brother Johannes and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 50-1st Ave. Gimli, MB with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Interment to follow in the Gimli Community Cemetery. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Chapnick and the staff at the Betel Home for their care and kindness.
