CHRISTINE BROMLEY ALCOCK (nee MINNE) (EMILY MATILDA HANSLIP) March 27, 1926 - March 16, 2004 It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and great friend Christine, after a short courageous battle with cancer on March 16, 2004 at Calvary Place. Predeceased by her loving husband Fred; her father Henri; her mother Rosalie; and her brother Edward. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by everyone she touched. Her love and passion in life was her family. She leaves behind sons, David (Ljubica), Raymond (Diana) and Richard (Judy) daughters, Carolyn and Barbara (David) sisters, Jeanne Vercaigne, Doreen Grainger and Adeline Wilson; grandchildren, Alan, Diane, Kim, Melody, Jason, Crystal, Craig, Ryan, Carl, Kelly, Tracy, Mandy, Domenique, Curtis and Mason; many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mom was born in Deloraine, MB on March 27, 1926. She was raised on the family farm until her move to Winnipeg as a teenager. She shared with us many stories of the brave men and women she met during wartime while catering to their needs as a restaurant hostess and manager with Salisbury House Ltd. She met Dad at a country picnic and married on August 10, 1946. The began their life together and worked their farm in Eriksdale, MB for many years. Eventually they moved to Winnipeg to raise their family. At her bedside, with tear-filled eyes we watched her fade away. Mercifully, God saw to her needs so she did not suffer greatly. God took her in his arms and carried her home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all the doctors and nurses who have cared for her over the years. A special thank you to the wonderful people of Calvary Place 2 South for their kindness, compassion and loving care. She smiles at you. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Municipal Cemetery in Eriksdale, MB on Sunday, March 21 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. A luncheon will be held at the Eriksdale Recreation Centre following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
