EMMA ASHLEY Peacefully on March 18, 2004, at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB, Emma Ashley aged 98 years of Grahamdale, MB. Emma was born in Portsmouth, England on May 19, 1905. She came to Canada with her parents in 1911 at the young age of six. She lived in Winnipeg until 1915 when they came to Grahamdale to farm. She married William Harvey and had two sons then later married Ernest Ashley on August 6, 1936. They lived in Grahamdale for a short time, moved to Spearhill for four years and then moved to a farm east of Grahamdale. In 1955 they moved into town where Emma ran the post office in Grahamdale until she retired. She was predeceased by her parents; a brother Henry in 1967; her husband Ernest in 1969; a son George in 1974; her granddaughter Kathy in 1984; and a daughter-in-law Barbara in 1997. She leaves to mourn her brother, James (Hilda) Clark; four sons, Hugh (Margret) Harvey, Bill (Irene) Harvey, Frank (Eileen) Ashley and Edward Ashley; 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; one niece and four nephews, along with many good friends. Viewing will be held between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 22 at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23 at the Grahamdale Community Hall in Grahamdale, MB, with Melanie Kauppila officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Hall. Interment to follow at the Grahamdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ernie Ashley, Wilfred Ashley, Ray Ashley, Jeff Ashley, Shane Plantz and Arnold Clark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff at Eriksdale Personal Care Home and the Homecare workers for the wonderful care they gave our Mom.
