He was predeceased by his wife Peggy; son Jimmy; parents, Percy and Mary; brother Ernie; and sisters, Eileen, Alice, Cecelia and Elizabeth. He will be deeply missed by those left to cherish his memory: son Bob (Sharon), grandchildren, Gina (Jason), Bobby, Kristal, Chris; son Joe (Eve), grandchild Joey; son Mike, grandchild Ben; son Gerry (Lucia), grandchildren, James, Kana, Jade; son Tom (Fay), grandchild Ginger (Enzo) great-grandchildren, Anthony, Matthew, Michael, Brendan, Riley; sisters, Joan, Mary, Muriel, Maddie; special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Dad, all who knew you understood there would never be a dull moment in your company. Your sense of humour, biting wit, and editorials on politics and world affairs kept us on our toes. You raised six boys to be responsible, independent thinkers with a love of family and a good laugh. You remained a devoted husband to your beloved Peggy for 48 years. Family was very important to you and you kept us all abreast of what was happening out east. Working for the Department of National Defence for over 30 years meant you had to move us from place to place and you were so happy to settle on the farm in Inwood. With your love of reading, writing, chess, gardening, politics, nature and your unconditional love for your "boys", you were a great role model. Many hours were spent out at the farm having deep philosophical discussions and the odd fire or two! You always looked forward to the James Silman Memorial Golf Tournaments held in Lethbridge, AB. Dad, you have been a devout practicing Roman Catholic all of your life and there is no doubt you are on the fast track to the Silman Reunion with those who have gone before you. What better host than God! It will be difficult for us to carry on without you, but we know you have earned this time to rest. We will continue to have quiet conversations with you for the rest of our days on earth. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital for their excellent care of dad. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Villa Rosa Inc., Winnipeg, MB or Rosalie Hall, Scarborough, ON. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, Teulon. Mackenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
