HELEN M. CAPLAP We are grief stricken by the passing of Helen Caplap on March 17, 2004, at 41 years of age. Helen was predeceased by her brother John Caplap in 1996. She leaves to mourn, her parents Maria and Andrej; brother Gerry (Nancy) and special niece Heather, as well as her cousins, Lesya and Oksana. Helen was another north end success story, graduating from St. Johns High School, the University of Manitoba, then receiving a call to the Bar in 1987. Upon leaving her career as a lawyer, she joined the civil service and became a manager with Statistics Canada. This afforded her many chances to visit our Arctic region, which she embraced. Helen had a love of impressionist art and a deep devotion to her small family. "Good bye and happy trails, little sister. Ill keep your memory until forever." "Dear daughter...you were so kind and good to all who knew you, often at the cost of caring for yourself. May God in Jesus Christ keep you under His care." - with great sorrow and eternal love, Mama. Funeral will be Tuesday, March 23, 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave., followed by a reception in the church basement. Interment at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Vichnaya Pamyat KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193

It was approximately 2004 when Helen and I met. We were both going through a rough patch in our lives at the time but we formed a friendship that I think helped both of us. We dated for a while but work and distance between where she and I lived made it difficult to continue. Many years ago she gave me a printing of a Picasso painting that I had framed. I looked at it tonight and thought I needed to see if I could contact her and say hi. I don’t know why after all these years I felt this way but I did. She obviously made a impression on me and I won’t forget her. I’m so sad that she passed away so young. Anyway, I’d like to offer my sincere condolences to her family.
