DENIS GUY VANDAL Tragically, on Thursday, March 18, 2004, Denis Vandal passed away. Denis was born May 26, 1955 in St. Jean Baptiste, MB. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Jeannette and his children, Scott (Melanie) and Crystal (Sebastian). He is also survived by his cherished granddaughter Amelia. Denis was predeceased by his father Maurice; his brothers, Maurice Jr. and Philippe; and nephews, Perry and Kenny. He is survived by his mother Dorilda; and siblings, Gilles (Marge), Dolores, Paulette (Hank), Norman (Laurie), and Daniel (Brigitte) and families. He is also survived by wife Jeannettes family, Carrie Wilson, Judy, Joan, Harry, Brent, Debra, James and Brenda; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Marie Vandal. Denis was a father figure to nephews, Jeff, Roland, Ryan and Tyler. Denis will be remembered as a hard working, generous, kind soul who always placed the needs of others ahead of his own. A devout family man, he adored spending time with his wife Jeannette, son Scott and daughter Crystal and his one year old granddaughter Amelia. He was eagerly awaiting the marriage celebration of his son Scott and Melanie scheduled for the summer of 2004. For many years, Denis was a proud ironworker by trade. He suffered a back injury in 1999 which prevented him from returning to his trade. These were difficult years for Denis. However, he approached these challenges like he approached everything else in his life - with a positive outlook, tenacious determination and an incredible work ethic. Recently, he spoke with enthusiasm and determination about his re-training in business administration at Red River Community College. Over the years, he nurtured many friendships which he cherished. Those friendships will never end. A memorial service to celebrate Denis life will be held on Wednesday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthonys Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave. He Only Takes The Best God looked around His garden, And found an empty space. He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you, And lifted you to rest, Gods garden must be beautiful He only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain, He knew that you might never Get well upon this earth again. He knew the road was getting rough And the hills were too hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered, "Peace be thine" It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Childrens Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
