ALBERT PAUL ZILLMAN Albert Paul Zillman beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend peacefully passed away March 18, 2004. He was born in Carman, Manitoba, January 20, 1920. He was predeceased by his wife Isabella (nee Cope) his mother (Elsie) and father (Ewald) and brother (Edward). He will be sadly missed by his children, Gerry (Connie), daughter Carol (Gord), stepson Mike (Myrna), stepdaughters Marilyn (Dave), Elaine, Marlene (Art), 12 grandchildren (including his extended family) and his brother Raymond. Al retired in 1980, after 29 years as a firefighter/fire prevention officer with the St. James and Winnipeg Fire Departments. He enjoyed his summers in Minaki, Ontario and winters at Lake Panasonffkee, Florida where he was surrounded by his many dear and closest friends (which included Billy and Dot Merritt, who catered to his every whim during his sickness in Florida). During his service years, he served in the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry; 3rd Battalion Irish Fusiliers; and the N.R.M.A. Special thanks to Dr. Nolan Finalyson (Seven Oaks Hospital) for his heartfelt care and honesty, which helped ease this difficult time; to the nurses and staff, who talked and encouraged Dad, and to his many friends who supported him and stood by him throughout his short illness; and to Dr. Les Ullyot, who was at one time his physician, confident and very longtime friend. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall. Winnipeg Fire Department Chaplain, Mark Young, to officiate. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Als name to either CancerCare Manitoba or the FireFighters Burn Fund Winnipeg.
