ANTOINETTE MARIE (TONIE GRENON) MacDONALD January 22, 1921 - March 19, 2004 After having expressed thanksgiving for her life, Antoinette (Tonie Grenon) MacDonald went to her Maker on March 19, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Tonie was the widow of Thomas More MacDonald and the daughter of Omer and Rachelle Grenon, now deceased. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law John (Joan) Grenon; four nieces and eight nephews; their spouses and children and her very special cousins. Tonie grew up in the Fort Rouge area of Winnipeg. She attended St. Ignatius School and St. Marys Academy. She was first employed by the Misericordia Hospital. Two years later she began working in the Canadian National Railway offices. She remained with the CNR in the Regional Comptrollers Department until 1982 when she retired from her position as Group Supervisor of the Labour Section. Among the organizations with which Tonie volunteered were the Canadian Girl Guides movement, the Canadian National Institute of the Blind, the Third Order of St. Francis, and her union, The Canadian Brotherhood of Railway Transportation. In December 1980 Tonie and Tom MacDonald were married. After her retirement, the two indulged their love of travel. Tom predeceased her in 1997. Tonie was especially appreciative of her caring group of friends near her home in the downtown area and of those in the Alzheimer patients spouses support group. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m. in the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Marys Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Interment will take place in the St. Norbert Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
