Russells greatest joy after his family and friends was his model trains, passing on a love of trains to some of his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading and gardening. He had a dry sense of humour, loved to know the meaning of words, kept meticulous records of weather, gardening, accounts and of his daily life. His last wish was to die in his own home, which he did. Cremation (arrangements by G. R. Carscadden Funeral Chapel) has taken place and the family wishes no flowers, but for anyone who wishes to pay their final respects to Russell, wave or toot your horn at a passing train and wish him well on his final journey.
