PETER COLE July 20, 1918 - March 21, 2004 On Sunday, March 21, 2004 Peter Cole, aged 85 years of East Selkirk went to be with his Lord. Survived by Marion his wife of 63 years; sons, Patrick (Danuta), William (Edelean), Ted (Bev) and daughter Marlene (Larry Edel) grandchildren, Mark (Teena) Cole, Carrie Cole, Shelley (Quinn) Fay, Scott (Sara) Cole, Melissa Cole, Chris (Carmen) Edel, Kelly and Cameron Edel, David (Carmen) Cole, and Ian (Sheila) Cole; and four special great-grandsons, Brody and Trenton Edel, Cole Fay and Xavier Cole. He was predeceased by his mother Nettie Romaniuk; father Michael; step-father William Romaniuk; and his only brother John Kolodginski and a sister in infancy. Peter served with the RCCS in the Second World War from 1942 to 1946. His work careers included a Delivery Man for Browns Bakery out of Winnipeg, a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Municipality of St. Clements and then 28 years with the Manitoba Rolling Mill, retiring in 1983. His passions were his family, friends, animals and his garden. Peter believed in getting involved with his community. He held various positions volunteering for the Happy Thought School Board, St. Marys Ukrainian Catholic Church, the Restitution and Fine Option Committee, The Selkirk Hospital Board and the East Selkirk and District Seniors Club. Prayers will be said on Friday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk. Funeral mass celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 27 at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in East Selkirk. Interment will follow in the East Selkirk Cemetery.
