LORNE E. CARMICHAEL Comforted by the love and support of his family and friends, Lorne E. Carmichael passed away on March 19, 2004 at the age of 63. He will be dearly missed by his wife Patricia (nee Kennedy) son Chris; daughters, Tricia and Merrilee Kray (Andrew) and grandson Jack. Lorne is also survived by his sisters Jean Barr and Margaret Slaney and will be fondly remembered by his mother- and father-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family. He is predeceased by his father Alexander, mother Violet (nee Jackson), sister Marion and brother Clifford. Lornes success as a husband, father and friend and his best qualities, his sense of humour and generosity, are reflected in the people that surrounded him. Throughout his career, which took him from Neepawa and Riding Mountain to Churchill, Victoria and Winnipeg, he garnered the respect of his colleagues and students and cultivated many lasting friendships. His quick wit also served him well amongst his curling, golfing, gliding and cottage friends, and influenced his children more than he ever realized. Lornes spirit and approach to life are aptly captured in his advice to his family: Youve got to get as much out of life as you can. Lornes ashes will be laid to rest at Waverly Memorial Gardens in a private service for the family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 27 at Grey Street United Church (651 Sandhurst Ave. at Grey St.) at 2:00 p.m. The family asks that donations be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation in lieu of flowers.
