HALLDOR (DORI) EASTMAN September 6, 1927 - March 21, 2004 Peacefully on March 21, 2004, Dad passed away at Gimli Community Health Centre at the age of 76 years. He was predeceased by his father Halli; mother Una; daughter Denyce; and sister Gudlaug. As well as his brothers-in-law, Victor, Kris and Roy. Dad is lovingly remembered by his wife Doreen; daughter Linda (Arnie) son Allan; stepchildren, Laurie (Monica) and Lindsey (Richard) grandchildren, Rossie, Joey (Sandy), Lonnie (Julie), Terry, Elizabeth, Sherry, Christina and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Alysha and Hayley. He is also survived by his brothers, Gisli (Deanna), Halli (Judy), Herb (Merle), Robert and sisters, Anna, Carol (Billy) and Olive; as well as many numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Dad was born on September 6, 1927 in Riverton, MB. He worked hard on the farm and also fished and trapped on Lake Winnipeg. He came from a musically inclined family and he played the accordian. In 1949 he married Reta Bidinosti and they had three children. In 1955 the family moved to Winnipeg where he was employed for C.P.R. Later he worked for Cold Stream and then for the Hudson Bay, installing flooring. After 36 years of marriage mom and dad parted. Dad moved to Selkirk and worked for Daerwood Decorating. Dads hobbies were coin and stamp collecting, woodworking, photography and wildlife and bird watching. He was also very proud of his Icelandic culture and he took every opportunity to ensure that we also appreciated our heritage. Dad was a member of the Wildlife Federation and also an honourary member of the De Vries Legion. In 1998 Dad met Doreen Hunt and they married later that year. They moved to the Waterfront Centre, Gimli in 2001. Dad was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, throughout his life. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. He never complained about his painfully severe arthritis that really took a toll on his health. He was very blessed as he had many friends and relatives who loved him so much. He will always be remembered as a strong and loving dad to his children and a wonderful Afi. We loved him so much. A Celebration of Dads life will be held on Friday, March 26 at 1:30 p.m. in the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church, with Pastor Trudy Sluth officiating. Interment to follow in the Riverton Community Cemetery. Dads honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, Gisli, Herbert, Halli and Robert; cousins, Allan Sigvaldson, Baldi Baldwinson and Rudy Eastman; and brother-in-law Billy Bell. Very special thanks to Dr. Wong and the staff at the St. Boniface CancerCare and Dr. R.C. Patel and all the wonderful Home Care and all the staff at Gimli Community Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dads memory to the Riverton - Hnausa Lutheran Church or to the Riverton Transportation and Heritage Centre. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements. Goda Nott Elskan
