Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORA TERESA MEINDL (nee OCONNOR) It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Nora Meindl at St. Norbert Personal Care Home on Saturday, March 20, 2004 at the age of 86. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Nora OConnor; brothers, Jim and Mattey; sisters, Kathleen Richmond, Mary Land; son Jamie; and husband Bert who died in 2002. She is survived by her sisters, Eileen Parsley and Pat Hutchinson and brother Ben OConnor. Mom leaves to celebrate her life and cherished memories, her children, Terry (Clare), Mike (Paula), Fred (Gena), Bert (Linda) and Paul; grandchildren, Shawna (Mel), Jamie (Angel), Sandi (Paul), Brian (Tammy), Sean (Amy), Evan, Les, Kyle and Neil; great-grandchildren, Dani, Cody, Ty, Brittany, Colton, Meg and Sam; step-grandchildren, Andy and Melony and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Cork, Ireland January 9, 1918 and was raised in a Military family and educated in both Ireland and England. She met dad during the second World War and they married October 12, 1942 in Edinburg, Scotland. As a war bride she crossed the sea to Canada with three sons and started her new life. She lived in many Military bases across Canada raising her family and eventually settled in Winnipeg in 1962. Mom enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, bridge and most of all time spent with her family and friends. A memorial mass will be held at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 135 John Forsythe Drive on Thursday, March 25. Prayers will take place at 10:45 a.m., followed with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Gerry Ward presiding. Interment will follow at St. Marys Cemetery. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their kindness and assistance during the time mom was in their care. Donations may be made in Noras memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB. May the road rise to meet you; May the wind always be at your back; May the sunshine warm upon your face; The rains fall soft upon your fields; And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
