MARIA (MARY) NUYTTEN (nee PENNER) Peacefully on March 22, 2004, at the age of 80, Mary passed away at the Palliative Care Unit of Riverview Health Centre. Mary leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 58 years, Harry; her loving children, Kenneth (Roseanne) Nuytten, Gordon (Cheryl) Nuytten, Leslie-Anne (Ron) Sydorko, and Doug (Kathy) Nuytten; her 13 grandchildren, David (Marci) Nuytten, Jean (Andre) LaBelle, Brian (Amber) Nuytten, Colleen (Kevin) Mann, Becky (Christian) Lagiewka, Norma Nuytten, Ian, Jordan and Cory Sydorko and Leona, Dylan, Jonathan and Isaac Nuytten; as well as her 11 cherished great-grandchildren. Mary was born in Russia in 1923 and immigrated with her family to Canada three years later. She was predeceased by her parents, Isaac and Maria; her brothers, Jake and Cornelius; and her sister Ann. She worked for many years as a Supervisor in the C.S.R. Department at St. Boniface Hospital before retiring in 1988. In later years, Mary loved spending time baking, tending her flowerbeds and the times spent with family and friends. Her fresh buns on Saturday mornings, her cakes and butter tarts at Christmas will be sadly missed. The family would like to give special thanks to Marys special friends, Kathy Ferreira, Olga Kennedy of Portage la Prairie, Cindy Caplan of Springfield, V.A., and Brian and Joyce for the support and friendship they have provided over the years. We would also like to thank all the doctors and staff on 3 East at Riverview Health Centre for their support and caring, making this last couple of months as comforting as possible for Mary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy No. 1 East at Navin Road, with Rev. Susan Tough officiating. Interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
