CAROL ANN SLOTA (nee TOBIE) It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Carol on Monday, March 22, 2004. Carol will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her beloved husband, Don of 35 years; her two children, Randy (Michelle) and Lori; three grandchildren, Jessy, Austin and Victoria; brother Roy (Mae) sisters, Rose, Ruth (of Kamsack, SK), and Rita (Tony) sisters-in-law, Katherine and Adeline (Roland) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Nicholas; her mother Jeanne and brother Orest. Carol was born and raised in Transcona. On June 14, 1969, she married Don and her life began to flourish in Oakbank as they farmed and raised their two children. Her most precious moments were when her grandchildren came over to check out Babas well-stocked cupboard of goodies. Carol spent many hours baking and cooking up special treats for all her family and friends. She always enjoyed having everyone over and having a sing-along where she shared her very special talent in singing. Carol will always be remembered for her generous caring nature and spirit, lending a hand to each and everyone who crossed her path. Many thanks to all the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital (ICU) for their kind support and caring efforts. Prayers will be said on Thursday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church, Cooks Creek, MB. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 26 also at the Church with Rev. Fr. Taras Kowch officiating. Interment to follow in the Birds Hill Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Guilio Giancola, Orest Giancola, Peter Wolfe, Kurt Zerbin, Glen Tobie, and Steven Sushelnitski. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Carols memory to the Immaculate Conception Church or a charity of your choice. What better host than God. It will be difficult to carry on without you, but we know you have earned this time to rest. We will continue to have quiet conversations with you for the rest of our days on earth.
