Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Ness; her husband John; son Bob; sister Pat; and brother Tom. She leaves to mourn, her children and grandchildren, Nina (Jessica and James), Dawn (Jenny and James), Johnny (Caleb, Maya, Jasmine) and Bobs son Christian. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews, cousins; brother-in-law Ron James and sisters-in-law, Emily Stephanson and Dolly James. Eileen was born in Bratton, SK on December 17, 1919 and lived on the family farm until she moved to Winnipeg when she was 18 years old, to pursue a career in Nursing. She trained at "the old Grace Hospital" where she received her Registered Nursing Designation. She then obtained a position at Deer Lodge Hospital, where she met her future husband John Julius Stratton. John passed away in 1969 and Eileen was left to raise four teenagers on her own. She persevered and continued her education in 1972 by obtaining her Psychiatric Nursing degree. Her whole career was spent caring for others in various facilities. Eileen was an active member in Christ Church and the St. James Legion No. 4 Ladies Auxiliary as well as supporting many humanitarian causes and activities. The family would like to thank the staff of Golden West Centennial Lodge for their care and support through the years. Eileen had a terrific sense of humour. She took great joy in making people laugh. She enjoyed singing, dancing and playing the piano. She loved drawing - especially sketching the sailboats from the cottage at Gimli. She loved children and animals. Eileen was a very kind and gentle woman whose generous nature made everyone feel welcome in her home. With warm loving arms she held us while we cried She stroked our hair, She touched our hearts She kissed our hurts better and dried our tears She taught us how to ride bikes and bury dead birds She smiled at the rain and showed us rainbows She taught us the wonder of Gods creation She kissed us goodnight Cremation has taken place and Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church on Friday, March 26, at 10:00 a.m., 2700 Portage Ave. and Woodhaven. Reverend Ian Mills will officiate.
