DAVID CLARE GALLOWAY Davids family is deeply saddened to announce his sudden passing on March 24, 2004 at Estevan, SK. Dave was born in c, MB on July 18, 1947, the oldest child and only son of Clare and Peggy (Stewart) Galloway. In 1948 Clare, Peggy and David moved to Cavendish, AB. The young family eventually returned to farm in the Golden Stream district, where he grew up. David received his elementary education in the very close-knit community of Golden Stream. He attended William Morton Collegiate in Gladstone. In 1970 he graduated as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse from the Brandon Hospital for Mental Diseases. While working and helping to raise his family, Dave attained his Diploma in Business Administration at Assiniboine Community College. He went on to get his Degree in General Studies at Brandon University. When he was 40 years old, he made a decision to go to Dalhousie University in Halifax and get his Masters Degree in Hospital Administration, which he obtained in 1989. Dave worked in the medical health field in several locations across Canada, including Brandon, Lunenburg, Dawson Creek, Spirit Wood, and lastly, Estevan. In all of these locations he made lasting friendships that he treasured. He enjoyed people and valued their friendship. It was important to him to keep in touch with all the friends he had made over the years. He also has been involved in doing medical accreditations for hospitals and care homes across Canada. Dave was a member of the Gladstone Legion, Branch #110 for over 25 years. Dave started collecting pocket watches and antique clocks after a severe injury greatly affected his mobility a few years ago. He took great pride in restoring them. This hobby expanded when he started to collect antique wall and mantle clocks. These, too, he repaired and they were displayed extensively throughout his home. He had clocks on every bare wall space and he knew the story behind each clock. Dave married Edna Brown in 1969. They had two sons, William David and Richard Vincent. He was very proud of his sons accomplishments and achievements over the years. He was recently blessed with a granddaughter, Mia, who was the "apple of his eye." He would laugh and say, "she looks just like me!" David was predeceased by his father Clare Galloway in April 2002. He leaves to mourn his wife, Allison, of more than 20 years; two sons, Bill (wife Aya and daughter Mia) and Rick, both of Japan; his mother Peggy Galloway of Neepawa; as well as sisters, Maureen (Don) Cox of Neepawa and Jo-Anne (Larry) Campbell of Arden; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Cox (Scott Anderson), Will Cox, Chad Campbell, and Jodi Campbell (Clayton Terin). He is also survived by aunts and an uncle, June and Earl Stewart of Gladstone and Vera Galloway of Dawson Creek; as well as numerous cousins. When tragedy struck in the family, David was the rock that pulled the whole family together and eased the burden for all - we will miss him. A funeral service will be held at St. Josephs Hospital Chapel, Estevan, SK on Monday, March 29 at 4:00 p.m. Committal service will be held on Wednesday, March 31 at 12:30 p.m. at the Gladstone Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. in the Gladstone United Church with Rev. Bob Hunter officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Clarkes Funeral Home, Gladstone (204) 385-2274 and Orsteds Funeral Home, Estevan in care of arrangements.
