ANN OGRODNIK (HOROBEC)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANN OGRODNIK (nee HOROBEC) After a short illness, on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at the Grace Hospital, Ann OGrodnik, 73 years, beloved wife of Lawrence OGrodnik of 53 years. Ann is also survived by her children, Larry of Vancouver, BC, Janice (Greg) of Salmon Arm, BC, and Allan (Judy) of Mississauga, ON. Ann also leaves her grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsay, Kayley and Lauren. Ann was born in Caliento, MB, to her loving parents, Mike and Helen Horobec. As a young woman she moved to Winnipeg where she met her lifelong partner, Lawrence. They married in 1951 and raised their family sharing many cherished times in Winnipeg and at the cottage in Falcon Lake. She took great pride in being a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandmother. Everyone was invited to share in the bounty of life and no one escaped her presence without being fed. She poured boundless energy into people and was never too tired to get down on the floor and play with children. She was an avid hockey and ringette fan as her grandchildren can attest. She had a wide circle of influences and maintained many close friendships. Ann was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Helen; her brothers, Ostop, Walter, Bill and Paul; and brother-in-law Ansley. She is survived by two sisters, Marie (Kas) Dziedzic and Stella Wilson; and sister-in-law Dianne Horobec; and brothers, Marko (Lena) Koshelanyk, Joe (Bella) Koshelanyk, Pete (Helen) Horobec, John Horobec, and Mike (Ileen) Horobec; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Prayers will be said on Monday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Garry Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, March 30 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Caliento. Interment to follow in parish cemetery. Ann will be widely missed and leaves a legacy of respect for others, nurturing and fighting to make the world a better place. The Heart and Stroke Foundation will miss her after 24 years of faithful canvassing. In Anns memory donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
