Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLOTTE WILLOCKS McMANUS Charlotte Willocks McManus, RN, Second World War Veteran, Member Royal Canadian Legion Branch #92, died at Salt Spring Island, BC on March 26, 2004, due to after effects of a stroke. After graduation from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Scotland, Charlotte joined the British Army Nursing Service (QAIMNS). She landed in Normandy on D+9 with the first group of nursing sisters to take part in the invasion. She tended to the sick and wounded through France, Holland, Belgium. After North West Europe she was enroute to South West Asia when the Pacific War ended. Charlotte resumed her nursing career after the war, until leaving her profession for marriage. She and her husband Jock, retired to Salt Spring Island in 1984. She was a perfect wife, a loving and understanding mother to our daughters, Patricia (Andy) and Georgie (Bruno) and to our granddaughters, Christine and Lianne. Others left to cherish many memories of happier times are her brother-in-law Jim McManus, Bill McBride and her sister-in-law Margaret McBride. Private funeral. No flowers please. Donations in her memory may be made to Lady Minto Hospital Foundation, 135 Croften Road, Salt Lake Island, BC V8K 1T1 or to Greenwoods, 133 Blain Road, Salt Spring Island, BC. At this time the family wishes to express its thanks to family Doctor and friend Dr. Ron Reznick and to the splendid nursing and care staff and Lady Minto Hospital and Greenwoods.
