Donald leaves to mourn his two sons, Donald and Brian. A private service for the immediate family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to the memorial fund at Fort Garry Care Centre, 1776 Pembina Hwy., Winnipeg, MB can be made. Professor Donald Penner was an amazing person and pathologist! A true humanitarian. He was one of my favorite tutors/ professors in pathology at the Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi Kenya, where I obtained my postgraduate training , also known as a (M. Med Path) i.e masters in medicine /pathology. Professor Penner intrigued my interest in cytopathology which is my major specialty today as a practicing consultant pathologist in the US. He brought the Northeastern American experience in pathology to our division and helped make it a great department. It was also very special to know the Penners socially. His lovely and dedicated wife, Helen with her beautiful smile will also always hold a special spot in my heart. I would love to get connected to any of his living children and share some more about their great parents with them.
