RUTH IMRIE BEDNAREK (nee JARDINE) Quietly after a long courageous battle with Alzheimers, Ruth passed away March 16, 2004 at the Ashern Personal Care Home. Cremation has taken place. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband Ed; son Keith; daughter-in-law Heather; granddaughter Megan; sister Rosemary (Wally) and brothers, Ted (Eileen), Ken (Delores), Gordon (Hazel) and John (Linda) also countless nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Don and Jean Jardine and sister Shirley Matheson. Ruth was born in Spearhill, MB on March 21, 1929. After high school graduation from St. James Collegiate, Ruth continued on to Normal School (Teachers College). Her first teaching job was at Nelson House, MB. Following a brief teaching career, Ruth married Ed Bednarek July 14, 1951, enjoying life together and raising their family in Steep Rock, MB. Ruth was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She also enjoyed gardening, crafts, crosswords, hiking and cooking. A very generous person, her home was always open, a place where there was always a pot of tea on and a kind word for everyone. Ruth was an active member of the UCW and community club in Steep Rock she also taught Sunday School for many years. The family wishes to thank the caregivers and staff of the Ashern Personal Care Home for the love and care provided to Ruth. A celebration of her life is planned for May 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the Steep Rock United Church with Rev. Rennie McKinnon officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society 120 Donald St. Winnipeg, The Lakeshore Hospital Guild, c/o Julie Bergner, Box 721, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0 for use in the Palliative Care Unit, or a charity of ones choice.
