STANISLAWA (STELLA) OBLIK It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother on Friday, March 26, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. She was born on January 25, 1913, in Kurowo, Poland, the only child of Stanislaw Kozikowski and his wife Stanislawa. Stella is survived by her children, Kenneth (Diane) and Mary (Thomas Bell) her grandchildren, Michael, Sheila, and Lisa (Dennis Ranville) great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Richelle as well as her sister; Jozefa Gardecka; her daughter Wanda Kozlowska; her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph. During the Second World War, she was sent to Siberia, made her way to Iran, Lebanon, England and then to Canada. She often mentioned the Hladky family with gratitude for their help in bringing her family to Canada. In return, she also aided many others to make Canada their home. Mom was extremely thankful for her employment with the Health Sciences Centre. She retired in 1982 after 25 years. Sincere thanks are extended to the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Often, she said how hard they worked to make her comfortable. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit, 409 Tache or to a charity of their choice.
