ANNE MILDRED McDONALD Anne Mildred McDonald died Saturday, March 27, at Charter House, Rochester, MN. She was born July 17, 1909 in North Kildonan (Winnipeg), Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Angus Matheson McKay and Annie Munroe McLeod McKay. She received her R.N. from The Winnipeg General Hospital, where she was first in her class, in 1931. She married John Roland McDonald, M.D. on October 11, 1934. They lived in Rochester from 1934 to 1958 where Dr. McDonald had been head of a section of Surgical Pathology at the Mayo Clinic. They moved to Bloomfield Hills, MI, where Dr. McDonald was head of pathology and served for three years as chief of staff of Harper Hospital in Detroit. She was a life member and served as president of the Harper Hospital Auxiliary. After her husband died in 1977, she moved back to Rochester in 1979. She was a member of the St. Marys Hospital Auxiliary and PEO. In addition to her husband, Mildred McDonald was predeceased by her two sisters, Jean (married to Johns brother Walter, of Roland, MB) and Frances; and one grandson John David Hill. She is survived by her three children, Frances J. Hill (David) of Fontana, WI, Walter J. McDonald, M.D. (Barbara) of Battle Ground, WA and Jay McK. McDonald, M.D. (Sarah) of Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews in Canada. A memorial service will be held at Charter House Chapel at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2. Interment will be in Roland in August. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, Rochester.
