SHIRLEY MARY ANN HOLUNGA (nee PICHE) December 3, 1956 - March 30, 2004 Its with saddened hearts we bid bon voyage to Shirley. Her Journey to Eternal Paradise began on the evening of March 30. Although we are upset with her passing, she left us with a peaceful silence of relief from her suffering. Shirley was a great and wonderful mother to Rebecca, Pamela and Roger. She never let her pain and suffering get in the way of doing so many wonderful things with her children. She played an active role in her childrens education and always made sure that they were enrolled in different activities and events: singing, music and dancing lessons as well as sports. She was much more than a great mother, she was Tims devoted wife, partner and very best friend. Although Shirley may be gone she will be missed dearly. Everybody will find a special place in their heart for her. Shirley had a great sense of humour, if you ever needed a joke to cheer you up she would be there. Shirley would be first in line to volunteer wherever her help was needed, she was presented an award for her many years of volunteering with the career symposium. Shirley started working for the Government of Manitoba when she was 18 years old and spent her entire career there. She was predeceased by her mom Lois Piche; brother Jack Piche; and mother-in-law Anita Holunga. Shirleys desire to keep abreast of family near and far underlined her sensitivity and caring. There will be a deep void felt by her dad Wilf Piche; brother and sisters, Elizabeth Piche (John), Tom Piche (Carol), Louise Defoort (Doug) sister-in-law Shirley Piche; father-in-law Ted Holunga; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arlene Wagner (Richard), Terry Holunga (Brenda), Tom Holunga (Betty), Cathy Davis (Dan). Also left to cherish Shirleys memory are numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Missing Shirley greatly are her special friends, Doreen, Norma and Kim. Honoured by Shirleys request are the Pallbearers: Chad Morrill, Jason Defoort, Kenneth Piche, Rick Wagner, Demetrios Holunga, Greg Holunga. The family would like to thank the Grace Hospital CancerCare staff and the 3rd floor nursing staff for all the care Shirley received. Shirleys final days spent at the Grace Hospice were filled with great care and compassion from the wonderful staff. A very special thank you to Dr. Pat Harris for her exceptional care and support of Shirley over the years. Prayers will be held on Sunday, April 4, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Funeral service will take place on Monday, April 5 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Romanian Orthodox Church, 103 Furby St. with interment and reception to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Grace Hospice or CancerCare MB, c/o the Grace Hospital, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7.
