DIETRICH WARKENTIN Dietrich D. F. Warkentin of Grunthal died peacefully on March 30, 2004, at the Steinbach Bethesda Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife Katharina in 1966; his second wife Anne on March 8 of this year; and one grandchild Kathryn Toews in 1994. He is survived by seven children, Helene Friesen of Winnipeg, Hildegarde and John Toews of Grunthal, Peter and Bridget Warkentin of Grunthal, Fred Warkentin of Calgary, Hermina and Len Janz of Grunthal, Elinor Warkentin and Dhanook Singh of Vancouver, John and Regina Warkentin of Omaha, Nebraska; and their families. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters, brothers-and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Dietrich D. F. Warkentin was born on August 7, 1923, in Grunfeld, in southern Ukraine, Soviet Russia, to Sarah (Friesen) and Dietrich Aron Warkentin. The family immigrated to Canada in 1926 and moved to the Grunthal area in 1942. The memorial service will take place on Sunday, April 4 at 2:30 p.m. at the Grunthal Bergthaler Mennonite Church.
