MARY CAMPBELL DRUMMOND (nee MOWAT) Peacefully in her 83rd year (1921) Mary passed away in the early morning of Thursday April 1, 2004 at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC. Cherished wife of almost 59 years of Clare Drummond. Devoted mother of Jim (Edith), Doug (Cheryl), Bob (Adele) and Darlene (Mike). Proud Nana of Reid (Tonja), Derek (Tara), Kelley, Kyle, Jerilyn, Michelle and Chad. Loving great-grandmother to Caillie and truest friend and fond aunt to Jo-Ann, Lynda and Nancy. She was an inspiration to her family and friends and will deeply be missed by all. Mary enjoyed a rich and fulfilling long life even though she arrived into this world at only 1 lbs. Born in Fort Rouge, Winnipeg, her parents Alex and Margaret Mowat provided a Scottish background. In Winnipeg, she attended Riverview, Lord Roberts and Kelvin High Schools. Young Peoples Club became an important part of her life and it was here that she met Clare and married on July 4, 1945. While she was in White Rock, Mary was a Lioness for over 15 years. Our heartfelt thanks go to Dr. Connie Ruffo and the staff at Peach Arch Hospital, especially the nurses of the Palliative Care Ward. There will be a Celebration of Her Life on Tuesday, April 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sunnyside United Church, 15639 - 24 Ave., White Rock, BC. Reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sunnyside United Church Building Fund. Messages may be sent to the family care of Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Hwy., Surrey, BC, V3R 3N6 or e-mailed to loc3813@sci-us.com As the Indian Poet Tagore said, "Death is not the extinguishing of the light but putting out the lamp because the dawn has come.
