Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORA HYKAWY It is with great sadness that we the family announce the peaceful passing into eternal rest of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dora Hykawy at age 101 years on April 1, 2004, at Goodwin Lodge, Teulon, MB. Born March 18, 1903 in Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine with the given name Teodora Kindrativna Pavlyk. On arrival into Canada the family settled in the Interlake area. In 1924 she married Peter S. Hykawy and made their permanent residence in Arborg, MB where they raised their four children. Once the children grew up and moved away in the 70s, they moved to Teulon to be closer to their family. After her husband passed away she remained in her home for awhile and then in 1994 she moved into Gateway Manor and in 1997 into Goodwin Lodge. Mama loved her garden and flowers and also making large meals for her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Kindrat and Mariya Pavlyk; brothers, John and Metro; sisters, Nellie, Annie, Pauline; husband Peter (1981) youngest beloved son Johnnie (2002) and sons-in-law, Bill Baryski and Roy Miller. Dora is survived by her children Annie; Mike (Vonnie), Mary and daughter-in-law Vicki and their children and grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. A fond memory of a phrase that was often used by our mother to her grandchildren at many family dinners "Eat, Eat - Eat for Baba!" We will miss you and love you forever Mama. We the family wish to extend our sincere appreciation to the Goodwin Lodge staff for all their love and support and care shown to our Mama and family. Thank you also very much, may God bless you. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Interment will follow at Dnister Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Goodwin Lodge, Teulon. Vichnaya Pamyat MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon, in care of arrangements.
