DARRYL SOWDEN It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts that we announce that Darryl William Sowden passed away on the night of Tuesday, March 30, 2004, surrounded by family. He had spent the past month in St. Boniface Hospital, fighting bravely, despite his increasingly worsening condition. Darryl was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He will join his mother and father, Aileen and William, and his brother, Wayne, in heaven. He leaves behind to grieve, wife Melanie (nee Stangl), daughter and son-in-law, Dennie and Rick, grandson Bailey, and sister Val. He also leaves behind all the Stangl in-laws, who loved him like one of their own. Darryl was a very special man. He was a devoted husband and father and proud grandfather, and he loved his family more than anything in the world. He especially enjoyed family get-togethers at the Stangl farm. Even in the hospital, he was worried about missing Easter. He worked for a short time as a house painter, and then for many years as a Carman at CNR. Darryl was one of the most genuinely good people in this world. He was an extraordinary man with a big heart, a man with no enemies, always ready to help others, and generous to a fault. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humour, and good-natured teasing, even during the last painful month. He was looking forward to playing golf again this summer, and maybe finally actually winning a game. Darryl was also so excited by the prospect of combining, for the first time, on his father-in-laws farm, a promise that was made to him if he "got better". He particularly enjoyed working in his garage with his many, many tools. We wish to extend our appreciation to the staff of E5 and MICU at St. Boniface Hospital. Also we would especially like to thank our family. Words cannot express what it meant to us for all the prayers, love, and support. You were a great comfort to Darryl and to us during a very sad and difficult time. You helped to make his final days happier ones, even through all that he had to endure. Darryl, you will always live in our hearts. For what we keep in memory is ours unchanged forever. Nothing loved is ever lost, and you were too well loved to ever be forgotten. I love you Darryl with all my heart, and you know I always will. I miss you more than mere words can say. You struggled so bravely to stay with us, even though you were suffering so very much. You gave me strength with your courage, day after day. Heartaches in this world are many, but losing you is worse than any other. I will always remember the way you looked, the way you talked, and the way you smiled that mischievous little grin. Your love will light my way; your memory will ever be with me. Good-bye my love, until we meet again, Lanie. The worlds loss was heavens gain when God took you home. We love you, dad, and we will miss you very much. We will always think of you and remember the times we spent together. We will always have our memories. Good-bye, Love Dennie and Rick. I miss you papa, Love Bailey. A memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Thursday, April 8 at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550
