HENRY ISFORD Peacefully on April 3, 2004 with family at his side, our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Henry Isford, passed away at Victoria General Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Effie; children, Larry (Holly) Isford, Lois (Gary) Verfaillie, Louise (Peter) Horst, Nadine (Paul) Mitchell; grandchildren, Chris, Natalie, Darcie, Remi, Lisa, April, Jeremy and Tracey; great-grandchildren, Eric, Anais, Kayla, Liam and Ryann; sister Lois Helga Pettis of Comox, BC; and many nieces and nephews. Henry was predeceased by his parents, Kristjan and Agusta; brothers, Tommy, Einar, and Victor. Dad was born in Winnipeg, MB on September 14, 1922 and raised in Baldur, MB. He moved back to Winnipeg and after completing a course in dairying at the University of Manitoba he began his career at Dutch Maid Ice Cream, where he worked for many years. Dad was active in the Masonic Lodge, Jobs Daughters, DeMolay and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mom and Dad moved to Newfoundland for several years where he enjoyed working with family in the construction business until they returned to Winnipeg. Dad was an avid gardener and spent many hours attending his flowers and feeding the birds, with his dog Amber at his side. The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care and compassion provided by Dr. Salem, the Emergency department and Unit 5 staff at the Victoria General Hospital. Cremation has taken place and a family graveside service to take place at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • It’s been over 20 years and I still miss hearing your voice and feeling the love and guidance you gave to us. I took your presence for granted for as long as you were alive but I keep the memories in my heart and I smile when I think about your devilish sense of humor. My dear, sweet, kind Father, I hope you are at peace and with Mom and that this reunion is as it should be until we might meet again. - Posted by: lois isfjord (Daughter) on: Jan 19, 2025
