Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUISE FRIESEN (GIESBRECHT) July 25, 1914 - April 3, 2004 It is with sorrow and yet celebration of her life that we announce Louises death. She died as she lived, with dignity, an independent spirit and with her family at her side. Although she experienced many losses, Louises life was filled with much love. She had the gift of wisdom, the ability to form close friendships and she was loved by many. Louise taught her family the value of family relationships and friendships above material possessions. She had a strong faith that was expressed by her unwavering willingness to help those in need. Throughout the years Louise found steadfast reassurance in the words found in Psalm 73: 23: "Nevertheless I am continually in Your presence, you have taken hold of my right hand." Louise was born in Halbstadt, Ukraine to Anna Goosen Giesbrecht and Johann Giesbrecht as part of a large close knit family of seven siblings. The family was forced to flee during the Second World War, but after several difficult years fleeing to various European countries and living in refugee camps she considered it a privilege to make Canada her home in 1948. She lost her first husband Wasia Siklitski, father of Wanda, in this war. In 1947, Louise married Bruno Friesen, in Germany who adopted Wanda and the three started life in Canada as a family. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Wanda and son-in-law Adolf Andres; grandchildren, Lisa Maria (Tim Huth), Karl John. Her memory will also be cherished by her siblings, Andrei Giesbrecht (Katja) Germany, Elfrieda Jones (Ted) California, Harry Giesbrecht (Manya) Winnipeg; sister-in-law Klara Boehm, Winnipeg; and by her many nephews and nieces. The family wishes to express its appreciation to the staff and residents at Donwood Manor for their care and support and for the love and assistance of her many friends. Funeral services will be held at Portage Avenue Mennonite Church, 1420 Portage Ave. on Thursday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy.
