DORIS HIDLEBAUGH Peacefully on April 3, 2004 at Jocelyn House in Winnipeg, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away and is now with her Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Mom was born in Fort William, ON (now Thunder Bay) on November 14, 1918. She pursued a career in nursing and eventually became a practical nurse. This career led Mom across Canada and into the United States. Moms expertise in this field was primarily caring for infants where she became highly regarded by coworkers and peers as to the care and compassion she showed, in a job she loved. Mom had many varied and interesting careers but none as important as the lifelong one she chose on June 25, 1960 when at the age of 41 she married Mel Hidlebaugh. She became an instant mother and raised seven young children. Moms last words to us were that she didnt just marry our father, but the seven of us as well - her seven jewels. All those who knew her will sadly miss Mom. Left to cherish her memory are her only sister Joyce and husband John Wells and family of Delta, BC; her family, son Ron and Bonnie (Ksanya, Rachael, Jonathon) son Dave and Zee (David Jr. and Robin, Chris and Bev) son Danny; son Mark and Barb (Bree) son Paul and Christine (Jason, Alexis, Cameron, Mitchell) daughter Peach and Ken Fletcher (Ryan and Jackie, Eric) son Mel Jr. and Shannon (Jeff, Myles) her loving friends and Aglow Sisters. Mom was predeceased by our Dad, Mel (June 1999), and her parents. Prayers will be held at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Stony Mountain, Monday, April 5 at 7:00 p.m. The celebration of Moms life will take place at St. Josephs Catholic Church Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. The church is located on the corner of Olive St. and School Road. Our family wishes to thank Dr. Daeninck and nurse Tracy from CancerCare and all the doctors, nurses and staff at Jocelyn House including: Gisele, Kelly, Jean-Claud, Nicole D., Sara, Janeen, Helen, Maureen, Janice, Lourdes, Janna, Ruth and Nicole Z. who in our Mothers final days treated her and our family with dignity, compassion and respect. We also would like to acknowledge and thank all the rest of the local health care workers and friends too numerous to mention, for their care and support throughout Moms journey. Because of the great care our Mother received at Jocelyn House, in lieu of flowers it is our hope that anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of Doris would make it to Jocelyn House, 177 Egerton Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 2W7. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
