She was predeceased by her parents, William and Grace Mainland, her sisters, Mildred and Freda; her brothers, Ian and Earl; and her mother-in-law Mary Stewart. She is survived by her husband Don, her daughters, Tammy Reid (Chester) and Donna Greening (Shawn) her grandchildren, Randi, Lindsay, Sarah, Linnea and Tyler; her brother Murray Mainland; father-in-law Neil Stewart (Anna) sister-in-law Linda Arklie (Wayne) brother-in-law Ron and numerous nieces and nephews. Eleanor will be missed by all her many friends and her neighbours whom she loved so dearly and who were so helpful during her brief illness. We will all miss her hugs for which she was so famous. Our family wish to express our special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff in the palliative care ward for their tender loving care and to the many people on that ward who so kindly gave us their support during their own time of stress and grieving. We also wish to thank the nurses and staff of the Home Care unit. Without the genuine kindness and compassion for all of these people the past few months would have been much more difficult for Eleanor and our family. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Wednesday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. If you so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
